i did recently meet an instructor at the Vancouver Film School, who just received the very same PRO TOOLS 10 certification you mention. WIN 7 FTW! HAHAHAH.Īctually, one more point. and i very rarely have to rely on youtube for tips & tricks. now ten years after the fact, I am proficient enough in all areas regarding to audio engineering, i actually designed and built my own custom rig, and now that i'm older and have a little $, its a real treat to see what is available to us small studio users. i feel like a kid in a candy store every time i pull it up. we spent a good portion of the year working on pro tools projects which covered just about every damn piece of the software, and as such, even though it was based on version 5 & 6. yes we used Pro Tools extensively and as such did carry a very thorough understanding of pro tools, as well as logic!. I was taught Pro Tools in college but learned most of what I know through use and experience.Īgreed, i went to engineering school, digital / analog recording arts & mixing. You can learn Pro Tools easily in compared to learning how to engineer with it. There are plenty of FREE Pro Tools tutorials online, it would be a better investment to take a course in Audio Engineering than taking a Pro Tools certification course. Your clients really don't care what you're using so long as what you deliver sounds good and is finished on time. The best time to buy something like HDX is when you know you have enough work in the pipeline for it to pay for itself quickly. I would get a used HD Accel system to start, and use that to keep your skills current. Having enough gear to get the job done is obviously a prerequisite as well, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need an HDX rig. You just need to learn how to identify and filter out these people so they don't waste too much of your time). (I say almost, because there are a lot of B.S.'ers in this industry that act like they have connections and can get work for you, but don't, and never will. used for this purpose are almost always money well spent. Knowing people who can send you work is the only way you ever will make any money. The single most valuable thing I've ever invested in related to this industry is the time spent to network with other people. Either way if you do go for it, GOOD LUCK! If you tell someone you are certified it gives an air of knowledge and trust to those that don't really understand tracking or mixing, but that is just my opinion. Also, I believe having the Cert is a good selling point if you are trying to book people to record in your studio (whether it be an official studio or project). I am an Alumni of the school, it is a good place to learn and definitely if you are thinking of the Pro-Tools cert. I have a bunch of friends that got their Pro-Tools cert that way. Well if you are going to do the Pro-Tools cert I will tell you that IAR(Institute of Audio Research) on University by Union Square offers an AMP program which teaches you micing, recording, and techniques for movie production and ALSO comes with a Pro-Tools cert, and doesn't cost as much as you are saying. Also, I was the only person who was interested in more than 'making beats' with ProTools. I went to open houses for ProMedia Training and I was the nerd in the room that knew the answer to most questions. Question Is: Is a $6,000 certification course a better investment than saving the tuition payments and using the money towards purchasing an HDX rig? That said, 85% of the ‘pros’ I know tend to say that certification isn’t worth it. Is certification JUST for people who want to work at a major record label? I know the education would certainly benefit me in my project studio environment and maybe even drum up better/more business as clients might feel me a more reputable engineer knowing I was certified. Yeah, yeah.sounds cool.but is it worth it?įirst off, I will admit that while I may be better than average in regards to navigating and using ProTools, I know undoubtedly that I still have something to learn. I'm interested in the 14 day course that, upon completion (and passing) 3 exams, I will be a ProTools certified operator at the expert level. If anyone has gone to either ProMedia Training OR Future Media Concepts in New York City, I would LOVE some insider info. I live in NYC and two Avid authorized training centers are within arm’s reach of each other.

Using SSL, which is implemented on both your computer and the Roboform server, the data (password files) you send can be trusted to arrive privately and unaltered to the server you specify and no other. RoboForm says that “since your Master Password is not stored on our servers, absolutely nobody, including Siber Systems, can access your passwords or other RoboForm data.”Īnd to avoid man-in-the-middle attacks, all communication between your PC and the Roboform servers takes place over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Your passwords files, stored on the RoboForm Online servers, are encrypted with your Master Password as the key. Unlike LastPass or RoboForm, KeePass won’t fill forms for your automatically. In that case, you may either use LastPass (available for Windows/Mac/Linux and support most browsers except Opera) or download KeePass password manager and sync password information across computers using Windows Live Mesh. RoboForm is officially available for Internet Explorer, Firefox, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile but it won’t work if you are using Opera or a Webkit based browser like Google Chrome or Apple’s Safari. However, if the computer doesn’t have RoboForm installed, you’ll still be able to view the login and password information of any saved website and you can then manually copy-paste the credentials into the online form without too much of a hassle.Īlternatives to RoboForm for Password Synchronization If that computer has RoboForm installed, the software can automatically log you into any of the saved websites. Once your logins and passwords are saved onto your RoboForm Online account, you can retrieve this information on any computer using a web browser. The synchronization of passwords will happen automatically when RoboForm saves a password file or when you enter the Master Password or you can manually instruct RoboForm to “Sync RoboForm Data”. At the time of writing, both modes of synchronization were not simultaneously available. In addition to the cloud, you may also save RoboForm passwords to your Amazon S3 buckets or an FTP server. This skill goes by many names: friends of 10, making ten, tens partners. Students should have extensive exposure to the combinations that make ten using objects or drawings in Kindergarten (CCSSM K.OA.4). If a child has to struggle to solve 8 + 3, they have no mental energy (or desire) left to grapple with the types of problems that will increase their capacity as a mathematician. Knowing math facts is similar to knowing sight words–it frees up the mind to solve real math problems. Sure, we want kiddos to have automaticity with their facts. There’s a big difference between memorizing and understanding. “In recent years there has been a huge shift away from rote memorization of math facts and toward a strategy-based approach for learning math facts. Let’s go back a little though first…as I was banging my hand on my head thinking of new ways to teach my students addition in a fun way I ran across this AMAZING post from the Math Coach’s Corner…. In fact, you could turn the cards into a write and wipe activity by asking children to draw the missing gumballs with a dry erase marker instead. Also, be sure to read through to the bottom to grab the freebies that are mentioned throughout the post! My students were keen to solve the problems with playdough again, but you could easily use buttons, counters or pom poms. Grabbing one card at a time, kids read the whole number at the top and worked out how many more gumballs they needed to make that number. To prepare, I simply printed, cut apart and laminated the task cards. They’re a fun way to work out missing parts as kids figure out how many more gumballs are needed to make the whole number. The next day, I pulled out our number bond task cards. The partners continued solving bubble bonds until they had worked through all of the number cards in their set. The kids eagerly worked in pairs and investigated the different number bonds that could be made for each number. Can you think of another way to make five?”. I thought out loud, “I can see that the number five is made up of two parts: one part is three and one part is two. So, I added two yellow playdough balls to the 2nd bubble and wrote “2” in the box below it. The class unanimously agreed that I needed two more to make five. I said, “If I have three bubbles now, how many more do I need to make five?” I asked the kids how many bubbles they saw and wrote their answer, three, in the first box. Then, I rolled three pink balls out of playdough and laid them in the first bubble. I randomly grabbed the number five card first and placed it on the mat. I build a tower, take part away and then ask questions like “how many are left?” and “how many more do I need to make…?” Bubbles Bonds ActivityĪfter putting away our unifix cubes, I was eager to pull out our first number bond activity: bubble bonds! It’s a fun way to investigate how parts work together to make the whole. Number bonds are a great way to begin teaching the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. Or we could have used one pink and four yellows… For instance, in our example above, we could have used two pinks and three yellows to make five. I like challenging the kids to find another way to make each number too. Then, I break the tower into the two colors and have the kids count how many cubes are in each part. My students and I count how many cubes are in the “whole” tower. I begin by building a tower in two different colors so that each part can be easily identified (see the picture below). My favorite way to start teaching part-part-whole is making towers out of unifix cubes or LEGOs. Number bond activities help kids build their understanding of the part-part-whole concept, which refers to a whole number being made up of two or more parts. When you’re done, head over to our shop and grab some super fun Editable Math Fact Games! Solve missing addends with playdough, set up a fun math center with write and wipe cards… there are so many possibilities! If you’re teaching number bonds and would love a break from worksheets, these engaging, hands-on number bond activities are a must. A circuit breaker (within a switchgear enclosure) is the primary component that interrupts fault currents. The combination of equipment within the switchgear enclosure allows them to interrupt fault currents of thousands of amps. Other common types are oil or vacuum insulated switchgear. An effective although more costly form of switchgear is the gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), where the conductors and contacts are insulated by pressurized sulfur hexafluoride gas (SF 6). Switches may be manually operated or have motor drives to allow for remote control.Ī switchgear may be a simple open-air isolator switch or it may be insulated by some other substance. Oil insulated switchgear presents an oil spill hazard. Gas-insulated switchgear saves space compared with air-insulated equipment, although the equipment cost is higher. For higher voltages (over about 66 kV), switchgear is typically mounted outdoors and insulated by air, although this requires a large amount of space. Switchgear for lower voltages may be entirely enclosed within a building. This led to a further improvement, because the switching and measuring devices could be attached to the front, while the wiring was on the back. For reasons of fire protection, the wood was replaced by slate or marble. Later they were mounted on wooden panels. The first models were very primitive: all components were simply fixed to a wall. Switchgear is as old as electricity generation. Switchgear is further used to enhance system availability by allowing more than one source to feed a load. Switchgear also provides isolation of circuits from power supplies. One of the basic functions of switchgear is protection, which is interruption of short-circuit and overload fault currents while maintaining service to unaffected circuits.
While the 1950s were often viewed as the golden age of British cinema, The Queen of Spades is an overlooked jewel. The climax is a resounding hammer-thud of a casket, making the film an unsettling yet profoundly moving experience. It’s set in a cathedral and features polyphonic vocalizations. However, a 1949 film, Queen of Spades, has a medieval feel that feels out of place in today’s world. The tale of dark obsession, grim inheritance, and thwarted ambitions is set in a bleak environment. It evokes the grim uncertainty of Russian history. The Queen of Spades is based on the 1834 story by Alexander Pushkin. Meanwhile, an army officer who resents the aristocracy is haunted by the ghost of the elderly countess. It tells the story of a young countess who struck a Faustian bargain with the devil in exchange for the ability to gamble at Faro. The film’s popularity had multiplied, so much so that it was thought lost until 2009 when a copy was found online. A dark mystical mystery is unfolding, and the two main characters must confront the truth about their fates and the lives of others. The two fall in love and a dark, eerie turn follows. The 1950s Russian thriller The Queen of Spades has two main characters, an aging Countess Ranevskaya (Yvonne Mitchell) and an embittered Russian soldier, Captain Herman Suvorin. Let’s start with some background information. Learn all about this card in this article. It’s also a consultant card in cartomancy. In the 1949 movie ‘The Queen of Spades,’ it was played by Joan Crawford. It is the card that represents the suit of spades. The ‘Queen of Spades is one of the 52 playing cards in a standard deck. |
